  • You? A Christian? Ha!

Gone are the days when you can tell a Christian by just looking at how they live their lives. Nowadays you have to ask to be sure. And it seems like there are a lot more 'Christians' around than ever before. Apparently, being a Christian no longer requires following the principles established in the Bible (I hope I didnt miss something, because the last time I checked the Bible was the book us Christians worked with).

Now before we got the wrong ideas, I'm far from the perfect Christian. I slip regularly, but I actually make an effort not to. But there are just some straightforward things, the black-and-white if you will, that I notice too many 'Christians' falling short of. So lets see what I can think off.

    1. Fornication-When did it become OK to engage in sexual intercourse outside of marriage? I missed the memo. I Corinthians 6:18 says 'Flee fornication'. I wonder what that could mean...hmmmm

    2. Drunkenness-The Bible is brilliant you know. It understands and appreciates the wonders of alcohol. As a matter of fact it recommends a drink for a little pep.
1 Tim. 5:23 Drink no longer  water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities. See? The problem is however, allowing oneself to become drunk. Eph. 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit... Moderation is the key.

    3. Revelings-Thats right, as Christians, clubbing and Mardi Gras and the like, aren't our scene (like you needed me to tell you that). Galations 5:21
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

    4.
Compassion-It bowls me over when I see people in a position to do good for someone, whether to give a homeless person a little money or some food, or to help a man who is carrying a load of stuff and has dropped something, or to help a blind woman unto the bus when it gets to the bus-stop...and the person just does nothing. And then they have to gall to call themselves human much less a Christian. I Peter 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

    5. Prayer, Bible reading and church attendance-These go without saying. One cannot spiritually grow unless one partakes of spiritual food. Sounds smart doesn't it. Like any other relationship, communication is a key part of a relationship with God, and guess how we communicate with Him. Duh, prayer. Not all of us will hear his voice, so he gave us his Word. All we need to do now is read it. And why go to church? Because your church community is your family and families should spend time together. That and the Bible says so: Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Basically, as Christians we can't expect to operate like everybody else. That's what it means to be a peculiar people. I didnt say it, the Bible did.

I'm sure there are some stuff I left out though, so feel free to add them.

  • Boys against Girls

    "Sugar, spice and everything nice
That's what little girls are made of-
Snips and snails and puppy dog tails
That's what little boys are made of"

When I was in prep school, almost every quiz session the teachers had , the class was divided to play against the other team. And can you guess how the class was divided (of course you can, its in the title of the blog)?

    Boys against Girls

And despite my protests, I was always required to play on the boys side, lol.

And since it was never a bubble blowing competition, the guys, more often then not, LOST.

Now I could never figure out why our teachers wanted us to develop this battle of the sexes attitude between us. I mean, at that age we already had problems relating with girls and then our teachers had to come with this boys against girls nonsense.

Is this boys against girls thing beneficial to children's development or does it mess things up in the long run?

I read your response on Snippies blog and I had to stop by and give you major kudos. You brought up the points I was going to bring up. Probably much better.

If a girl asks you which girl you wud replace her with...NEVER ANSWER lol
  • yamman1989
I've made the mistake, time and time again, of saying the wrong things to girls (especially to my Queenie, but I think I'm learning not to now, lol) and I've seen other guys do it too. For instance my bestie's (ex) bf has been on a roll recently (see my furs blog entry). And lets not get confused, c
